Daily Telegraph – 13th January 2017
When Bronwyn ‘Bron’ Burrell last drove her Austin Maxi, she was 25 years old and on a once-in-a-lifetime rally adventure from London to Mexico.
The year was 1970, and she was part of an all-female crew crossing 16,173 miles and 25 countries in the gruelling World Cup Rally, in a car they nicknamed ‘Puff the Magic Wagon’.
Nearly five decades on, and at the age of 72, Burrell is back behind the wheel to race again in the very same car.
She has reunited with Tina Kerridge-Reynolds, now 77, and after restoring the Austin Maxi to tip-top condition the pair will compete in the London to Lisbon rally in April.
