Marshall of Cambridge – 5th January 2017
In 1970, Bronwyn Burrell, Tina Kerridge and Tish Ozanne competed in the famed London to Mexico World Cup Rally – and in April 2017 they plan to return and do battle in another tough event, in the very same Austin Maxi. Sadly, Tish has passed away since that original race, but Bronwyn and Tina, now Tina Kerridge-Reynolds, will climb aboard the Maxi and test their mettle in the 2017 London to Lisbon rally.
The team were backed by Marshall of Cambridge way back in 1970, and at the time Sir Michael Marshall, now president of the auto and engineering company, flew out to Lisbon to greet the car and crew who arrived in 35th place.
“The Marshall Maxi’ still sports the original 1970 livery and decals, as if the car had just competed in this most famous marathon rally, and Bron and Tina were able to meet up again with Sir Michael on a visit to Cambridge.
Sir Michael Marshall was the man responsible for organising the car, and Bron had not seen him since 1970.
Nearly 50 years on, two women now in their seventies are ready to hit the road again, in the very same car they raced in. Bron and Tina have driven Puff to Cambridge to renew acquaintance with a man who offered them invaluable help all those years ago.
Sadly, Tish has passed away since that original race, but Bronwyn and Tina, now Tina Kerridge-Reynolds, will climb aboard the Maxi and test their mettle in the 2017 London to Lisbon rally.
Bronwyn will be behind the wheel and Tina will be navigating, and the car, which Bronwyn has managed to find after all these years, has been specially renovated for the attempt.
From here Puff and Tina drove Puff to the London Rally School near Bicester to meet the crew for the BBC Breakfast Show shoot in the afternoon
