Race Retro – 24th to 26th March 2017
Held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, this is a classic car show, including rally cars from the Group B era. It includes Live Stages where the rally cars can show their paces and even take passengers to show them what riding in a fast rally car is like. Puff was invited as an original classic marathon rally car.
The three days were overcast with occasional drizzle, but spirits were high, and Puff sailed through the pre-race scrutineering with ease. Rob Harris, the Scrutineer for Rallyingwith Group B, was most helpful…and Puff now had her Group B Log Book. Puff was ready to run.
Tina and Bron were interviewed on the Live Stage inside the halls on Friday and Saturday. They were asked to talk about their experiences on the 1970 London-Mexico World Cup Rally and it was great to reminisce.
The Live Stages on the rally course began on Saturday and were fast and furious. The big powerful cars ere finding it very Difficult to get any grip, but Puff had no problem, and she wasn’t the slowest car .. she even beat a Triumph TR7 by nearly 6 secs over a timed section. It was so much fun to drive her again .
And finally time to celebrate Puff being on the front cover of the April issue of Vintage Racecar/ Rallycar magazine. Picture with Tina, Mike Jiggle, European Editor, and Bron.
